All
clients at The Cove are encouraged to work together and
support each other in their recovery. The treatment staff
has developed a program to aid clients in developing trust
and communication skills as well as learn to work together
as a team.
The Cove utilizes Florida Atlantic University's LIFT (Learning
Initiative For Team-building) Ropes Challenge Course.
Here our clients explore and recognize the skills needed
to become an effective team and to have fun in the process.
Through a series of structured, progressively more challenging
initiatives, clients use out-of-the-box thinking and their
group intelligence to make decisions. Skilled facilitators
guide discussion after each activity. Emphasis is placed
on helping the group build on assets, limit liabilities
and to respect and honor diversity. The day is divided
into "low elements" that focus on problem solving skills
and "high elements" which offer the team an opportunity
to work together to learn the true value of risk-taking,
trust, and personal achievement. All exercises are extremely
safe and offered as a "challenge by choice." No one is
ever coerced or intimidated to do any activity.
